'Trapped in a Dreadful Dream': Loved Ones of Unaccounted For Young People Await News After Alpine Fire

The loved ones of young people missing after a tragic inferno at a bar in a Switzerland's alpine town are facing an agonising period of uncertainty for official news and requesting information about their family members publicly.

The blaze ripped through the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the Swiss Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the small hours of January 1st. Confirmed images show the ceiling being engulfed in flames as bottles with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Authorities have indicated that it could take days if not weeks to identify the victims of the disaster, which resulted in the death of 40 people and wounded another 119. A spokesperson stated on Friday that 113 of the those hurt have been identified, with work continuing to name the remaining few.

In the waiting period, loved ones have been posting on the internet to plead for clues about their missing relatives who were at the bar that evening.

Desperate Searches for the Unaccounted For

The location of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are currently unknown, according to an heartfelt request from his parent.

Teenage sportsman Emanuele Galeppini, 16, was last in contact around the turn of the new year on New Year's Eve, his father said.

Included in that group is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old junior golfer, originally from Italy but now residing in Dubai.

The Italian Golf Federation has released a tribute that he is dead, without mentioning the fire, paying tribute to a "talented young man who carried with him passion and authentic values."

His father, reportedly stated that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around the new year. An official spokesperson has stated that a formal confirmation of his death is still pending.

Other Missing Individuals

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is likewise among the missing. His mother told reporters that he had been on holiday but had ventured out with friends and ended up at the bar.

"A close friend told me they ran away after the fire started and that he had his phone with him, but then at a certain point he lost sight of him," she explained, adding he had been wearing a distinctive piece of jewelry.

One of his teachers commented, "I remember his good nature and smile, coupled with great maturity. Often offer to help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds both Greek and Swiss citizenship but lives full-time in Switzerland, was also present on New Year's Eve, according to sources.

Her sibling has posted an appeal online, saying the family has had "no updates" regarding the teenager or the three friends she was with, who are also reported missing.

Consular authorities from her other nation say they are continuing to monitor the case.
