Baroque Works is poised to play a huge role in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, though the major clash won’t take place until season 3, and a beloved, popular member has recently been selected.
The streaming service revealed recently that the talented performer has joined the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will portray Bentham. Bon Clay can use their power to change into an exact copy of anyone they’ve laid a hand on with their right hand. The performer, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, will play a rendition of that figure reimagined as gender non-binary, rather than as a drag performer, in the live-action series, unlike the source material and anime.
This performer joins multiple recently announced actors tasked with bringing the group to reality, including chief Mr. 0, brought to life by the seasoned performer, a talented actress as another operative, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who is also part of the lineup as King Nefertari Cobra of the desert kingdom.
Though this character is a important part of the group, the individual won’t make their debut One Piece the upcoming installment. Considering season 2 expected to adapt the Little Garden storyline, this represents a major departure in the timing of the character’s debut, one that could suggest additional alterations to the story’s structure.
Escola’s blend of precise humor and profound feeling makes them a ideal selection for the role. Besides their recent voice performance in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and several accolades for creating and performing in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, highlighting the adaptability they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s most celebrated characters.
The platform’s adapted One Piece series is scheduled to come back for its season two on the tenth of March, 2026.
