The top legal official in Texas Paxton is suing the manufacturers of Tylenol, asserting the companies concealed alleged dangers that the pain reliever presented to children's cognitive development.

This legal action comes thirty days after President Donald Trump promoted an unsubstantiated connection between taking acetaminophen - also known as paracetamol - throughout gestation and autism spectrum disorder in offspring.

Paxton is taking legal action against Johnson & Johnson, which previously sold the medication, the only pain reliever approved for expectant mothers, and the current manufacturer, which now manufacturers it.

In a declaration, he claimed they "misled consumers by profiting off of suffering and promoting medication regardless of the potential hazards."

The manufacturer asserts there is insufficient reliable data connecting acetaminophen to autism.

"These manufacturers misled for generations, knowingly endangering numerous people to line their pockets," the attorney general, from the Republican party, declared.

The company said in a statement that it was "deeply concerned by the perpetuation of misinformation on the reliability of paracetamol and the possible consequences that could have on the health of American women and children."

On its online platform, Kenvue also stated it had "regularly reviewed the relevant science and there is insufficient valid information that demonstrates a established connection between taking paracetamol and autism."

Groups acting on behalf of medical professionals and healthcare providers concur.

ACOG has stated paracetamol - the key substance in acetaminophen - is a restricted selection for expectant mothers to treat pain and fever, which can present serious health risks if left untreated.

"In over twenty years of research on the use of paracetamol in gestation, no reliable research has conclusively proven that the usage of paracetamol in any stage of gestation leads to neurodevelopmental disorders in young ones," the group commented.

The lawsuit cites current declarations from the Trump administration in asserting the drug is potentially dangerous.

In recent weeks, the former president caused concern from health experts when he advised women during pregnancy to "struggle intensely" not to use Tylenol when ill.

The US Food and Drug Administration then published an announcement that physicians should think about restricting the consumption of acetaminophen, while also stating that "a direct connection" between the medication and autism spectrum disorder in young ones has not been proven.

Health Secretary Kennedy, who supervises the Food and Drug Administration, had promised in April to initiate "extensive scientific investigation" that would determine the origin of autism in a short period.

But experts warned that finding a sole reason of autism - believed by scientists to be the consequence of a complex mix of genetic and surrounding conditions - would not be simple.

Autism spectrum disorder is a category of permanent neurological difference and condition that influences how individuals perceive and interact with the world, and is identified using medical professional evaluations.

In his legal document, Paxton - aligned with the former president who is seeking the Senate - claims the manufacturer and Johnson & Johnson "willfully ignored and attempted to silence the evidence" around acetaminophen and autism spectrum disorder.

This legal action aims to force the companies "remove any promotional materials" that claims Tylenol is reliable for pregnant women.

The Texas lawsuit parallels the concerns of a collection of guardians of young ones with autism spectrum disorder and ADHD who filed suit against the producers of Tylenol in two years ago.

A federal judge rejected the legal action, saying research from the parents' expert witnesses was not conclusive.
