A confidential source has revealed a parliamentary probe that British authorities abandoned sensitive devices enabling the Taliban to locate local individuals who worked with western forces.

Data Breach Endangers Numerous in Danger

The source, identified as Person A, stated that individuals impacted by the security lapse were told to relocate and alter their contact details to avoid detection from militant forces.

Members of Parliament are currently examining the Conservative government's response of a serious disclosure of personal details concerning approximately 19k individuals who had requested to come to the United Kingdom to escape militant rule.

Data Disclosure Occurred

A spreadsheet with confidential details, including names, addresses and occasionally household data, was accidentally leaked by a worker employed at special operations center in last year.

The incident was discovered months later, when details of nine people who had applied to relocate to Britain appeared on Facebook.

Militant Technology

It appears there is a misunderstanding that Afghan rulers do not have the same sort of facilities that we have,” the whistleblower testified to lawmakers.

Technology was deserted in Afghanistan; they possess it. Once they acquire your phone number, they are able to track your exact position. That is what the unit did.”

When questioned about regarding if authorities possessed necessary encryption, the source stated: “They've got everything.”

Consequences of the Information Leak

Early investigations provided to the investigation suggested that at least 49 kin and associates of people concerned by the breach had been murdered.

A superinjunction about the leak was enacted in last year and prevented relevant facts about it from being made public until July 2025.

Security Recommendations

Due to legal constraints, the source and the aid group she was working with informed Afghan families they were supporting that they had “apprehensions that certain devices had been intercepted”.

“We advised that they change residence where feasible and switched their contact details. That constituted the crucial data that, if the Taliban acquired this information, would lead to their location being found,” Person A explained.

Challenged Assessments

The whistleblower contested that government assessment performed by a former official had been wrong to conclude that the obtaining of the records by the regime was “not significantly alter present danger”.

“The crucial point is that these Afghans are not standing up to militant forces; they are in hiding. All concerns relate to their previous employment.”

The source explained disturbing abuse experienced by affected individuals, including electrocution, waterboarding, and severe beatings.

“Instances include four-year-old children who have had limbs fractured to try to get households to disclose hiding places,” the whistleblower revealed.
