Rob Edwards along with O'Neil are two of the initial names in the frame to succeed Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.

Pereira was sacked on Sunday after the team's ten-game without a victory beginning to the Premier League season.

And both candidates - each of whom have historic associations to the club - are part of the options to be evaluated by the club ownership.

Edwards is presently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential hurdle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

However the ex- Luton Town head coach - who played over a century of appearances for the club during his time as a player - is considered a strong candidate for the position.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the Wolves directors as they start the process of appointing a fresh head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a unexpected candidate, even though he would be a surprising choice given he was sacked by the club in December last year.

The ex- West Ham United player is out of work meaning the club would not be required to provide any compensation.
