An individual of Australian nationality that leaped over a barricade and grabbed celebrity Ariana Grande has been expelled and prohibited from Singapore.

Johnson Wen, aged 26, was sentenced to nine days in prison for being a public nuisance and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," the country's border control told news outlets.

Wen pushed past photographers and approached aggressively the celebrity, who was present at the regional launch for Wicked: For Good on 13 November. Co-performer Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.

Wen has a history of disrupting concerts and celebrity events, including rushing the stage at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in the past June.

The occurrence sparked outrage in Singapore, with many accusing him of re-traumatising Grande.

The celebrity has spoken of suffering from PTSD after a terrorist bombing at her performance in the English city in several years ago resulted in the deaths of 22 individuals and hurt numerous attendees.

Throughout the court proceedings, the judge was informed he had made efforts to breach on the red carpet event multiple times, according to local news sources.

He then made a follow-up try to breach security. Security staff intercepted him and restrained him.

Wen later posted recordings thanking Grande for allowing his presence and said he was "at liberty."

Authorities arrested him the following day and brought charges against him with disorderly conduct, to which Wen pleaded guilty.

The Court Judge the magistrate was referenced by a news outlet as saying that he was looking for publicity, commenting that he was mistaken to assume he would not experience repercussions.

Grande has not addressed the case.

Cynthia Erivo spoke about the incident to NBC, remarking that she "only aimed to ensure my friend was protected."

"I believe he had no intention to us injury, but you never know with such situations, and I wanted to ensure that she was OK. That was my initial reaction," she stated.
